So, i've tried a few times in the last few weeks to string more than a few words together to form that thing we all know as a story. And every time I have
hit some kind of wall, usually at the end of the first 'scene', or as the story needs to segue into something like a middle, where I look at the story,
see how or where it may be going, and realise that it's not up to scratch. There's usually a fundamental problem. It may be that the MC is too
passive/lacks motivation. Or the premise of the story is unbelievable/makes no sense. Or the voice hasn't been maintained. Usually, in the past, this would
not be such a major issue, and I would plough like a deranged farmer through to the end, knowing I could draft and redraft to make it work, although I would
rarely make it great, and in fact the amount of work to end product ratio would often be unbalanced (away from the story)
So, is this a natural thing for a budding writer to experience? Has my just some internal shit-sniffing editor turned its sensitivity up a notch? Have I just, already, run out of things to say? Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Do you always finished started stories? And so on...
